About Me

“Whenever and however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your body, your mind and your spirit for the rest of your life.— Ina May Gaskin

My name is Nadia Taylor, CD(DONA) and I am a certified birth doula, a postpartum doula and a childbirth educator.  I am originally from Seattle, Washington, USA and I am married and we have one daughter who is 5 years and a son who is 2 years old.

To me, being a Doula and educator is more of a ‘calling’ or a purpose in life, than it is a ‘job’. I love everything about it; it is not something I feel forced to do because I need an income, but purely because it is such a huge piece of me and what I was created for.  I desire to protect, guide and fill-in wherever she is needing it.  As a doula likes to educate and inform, so does a childbirth educator. I want to be able to help educate and inform as many women as possible about their rights, choices and everything in between so that they have a better chance of experiencing a wonderful and positive childbirth. It is such a sacred time to cherish and to never forget.

I become a certified international Birth Doula through DONA International (Doulas Of North America) back in 2009. www.dona.org

During the years of 2011-12, I was doing doula/midwifery training overseas in developing countries, where women in poverty have little to no access to medical help and or no family or partner to accompany them during this important time in their lives. I have been able to see and help slowly lower the maternal mortality rate in those countries due primarily from simple, curable situations, and due to the lack of skilled health care workers. As this is also on my heart, I  hope to continue to go back on small trips overseas and serve where needed, and you can read more on my, “Maternal and Child Health” page.

I have been to India, Thailand, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Austria, England, Mexico, Philippines and Canada so far!

-Currently I am training with Lamaze International to become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator

-Cross-cultural maternal/health care disaster and preparedness training for developing countries, summer 2011, in the Philippines through Mercy In Action Organization

-CD(DONA) Certified Birth Doula certification and license 2009, DONA International
